Why Emergency
Preparedness?
Remember Nashville’s flood in 2010? What about the 2008 gas shortage with all the
long lines and high prices at the pump?
How about severe thunderstorms, and ah yes, tornadoes. In the last few years Nashville was hit with
each of these situations. Wish we could
say, “been there, done that,” and never worry about facing them again. Alas, we are not immune to emergency
situations, they are part of life on the planet earth. However, we can take a lot of the worry and
stress away by simply preparing. It’s
not hard. It doesn’t take a college
degree or professional experience. It
mostly comes down to some basic planning and preparation-in a nutshell: plan,
prepare, protect.
Have you thought about putting together a 72-hour-kit? It can take up to three days for the Red
Cross to reach people. What will you do
in the mean time?
If our water supply were compromised do you have some
stored?
Most people get pretty hungry just from missing one meal,
what about you? What about your kids? Even if you have food, are you prepared to
cook a meal if the power is out for a long period of time?
Start preparing now by coming to the Emergency Preparedness
Fair. It’s free and will provide you
with all the basic information you need to get started, or add to what you
already have. Do it for your
family. Do it for yourself.
See you there!
