Sprouting

Why Sprout?

It's simple.
It's cheap.
They are delicious.
It increases the nutritional content.
They are easily digestible, thereby increasing the nutrients you receive.
They are one of the highest sources of natural fiber.
They are high in protein and low in calories.

Start with grains. I had: rye, red wheat berries, lentils, chia seeds, and millit.

Measure them and put in containers to soak for 8 hours or overnight.

Leave room for expansion when soaking. Obviously, you don't need anything fancy.

Pour them out into containers that allow them to drain. The boxes are a sprouting kit, so I used sieves. Rinse and drain them 3 times a day.

And in 3 days, they live!

These are some great sprouting books. You can eat sprouts plain or add them to salads, soups, desserts, etc.

ENJOY!

  1. I have been at the fair and it was a great source of information, covering all the basics of prepping. I was hoping this blog will continue as I didn't have the opportunity to write down the recipes for the breads we could sample. Would it be possible to make it available in here?
